Fresh out of high school I went to cosmetology school and graduated but did not obtain my license. So I was working in a hair salon as an assistant. Helped out with hair at this fashion show and realized I paid more attention to the models rather their hair. I went home I started brainstorming on what I could do to bring something different to Jax that wasn’t of the norm. At that moment Florida’s Next Top model was born. My business background comes from my father. He owned a Security Company that made hundreds of thousands for 23 years. So I’ve always known I wanted my own like my father

3. What’s the inspiration behind model mansion and how did you come up with the theme? The Inspiration came from America’s Next Top Model I’ve always wanted to have my models in a house and shoot with different challenges. It’s an experience for them, but also for the team and I.

Style Spotlight: Toya Miles

Hey Spies, I am back with another spotlight. It amazes me the number of women that I encounter who simply wear many titles. Last week, I chatted with an author and this week I am shining a light on another one. I recently chatted with an author and Practical Nurse.Find out more below:

Toya Miles.jpg

1.Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Toya Miles aka T. Miles. My primary profession is a Licensed Practical Nurse and I am also a published indie author.

2. How did you know that this is what you wanted to do?

I knew writing was what I desired when I read my first urban novel and couldn’t put it down. After reading it, I began to have a lot of ideas on how I wanted to write my own novel.

Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?

I see myself in 5-10 years as a well-known author who owns her own publishing company. I also want to direct my own films.

What do you like and dislike about today’s literature?

I like how relatable and down to earth some of the books are but I don’t like how some of the ideas and storylines are very similar to others.

What’s the inspiration behind your novel?

The inspiration behind my books includes reflection on the part of my life when I was a troubled young woman, finding a way to push beyond bad situations and thrive.

How do fashion and literature intertwine?

In literature, most authors incorporate fashion when describing their characters. This gives the reader a way to visualize the characters.

Describe your ideal closet?

My ideal closet would be organized by colors, then seasons and neat.

A trend that has caught your eye lately?

The trend that has caught my eye this year is really an older trend that was brought back and that is the joggers or what I knew as jogging suits.

What is style to you?

Style to me is defined as fashion, mannerisms, and confidence in whatever you do.

What is your influence and do you think people take away from you?

My influence is originality. I hope that others will aim to be their own person and be confident to go for their goals.

It was great chatting with Toya Miles and I look forward to all of her future endeavors.

Style Spotlight: Loretta Walls

Many women tackle the everyday task and do it while still being fashionable. Regardless, if they’re a mom, chef, designer or author they still do it with style. I had the pleasure to chat with Author Loretta Walls. Loretta is a dope writer who specializes in everything from romance to adventure.  Get to know more about her below:

Who are you and what do you do?

I am Loretta R. Walls (Romance, drama, fiction genres) and Embue (Grown and sexy, action/adventure, fiction). I write novels that send the reader away on a journey like no other.

How do you know this is what you wanted to do?

I didn’t initially. I’ve been writing since the age of thirteen but didn’t start professionally until age twenty-nine, after my return from the military. It was overseas after publishing “Spices of Life” the confirmation came to fruition.

Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?

In 5-10 years, I see myself having movies completed my written works.

What do you like and dislike about today’s literature?

I like the diversity in today’s literature. It has many avenues to read and enjoy. For the dislikes, I’m not fond of how some still do not embrace a self-published author. Being one, it is not the easiest task, yet, I do my very best to bring forth quality work as if it came from a traditional publisher.

What’s the inspiration behind your novel?

The inspiration behind any novel I write is that it excites my heart. I cannot write if that primary spark is not there.

How do fashion and literature intertwine?

Fashion and literature intertwine: They do not in my opinion. Fashion fluctuates far too quickly compared to literature. Every author has their own style and

dropping designer names in books is not looked upon as premier now.

Describe your ideal closet?

My ideal closet: Tons of jeans (I like to dress them up or down), blouses, casual dresses, a few suits for special occasions, vests, infinity scarves (I wear often), boots, heels, Dansko clogs (my FAVORITE SHOES EVER) and a few pairs of sandals.

A trend that has caught your eye lately?

I haven’t had a trend catch my eye this year. I usually go the opposite way on things like that to remain original.

What is style to you?

Style to me: It’s not just what you wear or how you wear it, but the attitude that contains it all.

What is your influence and do you think people take away from you?

My influence is life. I think people take my energy and see it for what it is; me just being me.

Style Spotlight: Shastan

Hey guys, I have been slipping on my spy game. Life has pulled me in several directions which made me neglect my weekly spotlights. However, I am back and I had a chance to kick it with Shastan. I first met Shastan on the set of the home alone video shoot. In the video, shastan played Seseley’s boyfriend. Check it out here: Home Alone: Seseley Monat J

It’s awesome to see him steady pursuing his dreams. I am so honored to use my platform to share with you guys, great talent. Check out his interview below:

Who are you and what do you do? I’m Shastan Johnson. I’m currently a merchant marine and I attend school part time.

What are your hobbies? My hobbies are modeling and acting.

Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?  I see myself excelling in modeling or acting, in the other in the near future. My goal is to be signed professionally by a major agency within the next five years. I’m very detailed oriented and understands that great things take time. At this very moment, I’m pacing myself. Being that I have responsibilities, I often time struggle to find a balance but dedication and appreciation to my craft keep me level.

What is your style? I’m a fan of urban culture and it shows in my appearance. I believe that what you wear is a reflection of who you are and what you feel. I’m into earth tone colors. I like my clothes fitted but not too tight.  My dress code is more so “grown and sexy”. I adore bright vibrant Polos and fitted jeans. I also can be dressy and wear layers during the winter. It really all depends on how I’m feeling at the moment. I feel as though I’m authentic in the way I use fashion to express myself.

Style Spotlight: Madina Robinson

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade! There’s something special about a woman who take what seem like a lost and make it out of a profit. To some it looks like you are going through and struggling but to others they see your comeback. They recognize that if you spend a little time alone that everything that seem like a lost will be a WIN! Talk about restitution. I said all this to say that the author of memoirs of a chronically single gal has found away to benefit from her single season. I was granted the opportunity to do an interview on Madina Robinson. Check it out below!

1. Who are you and what do you do?  My name is Madina Robinson and I am a model, actor, and author of Memoirs of a Chronically Single Gal now available on Amazon Kindle.

2. How did you know this is what you wanted to do? I’ve been modeling since the age of 16 so I’ve always known that I love being in front of the camera. Upon moving to Florida I learned that I also love performing which is how acting came into play. I love being in front of a fun crowd. As far as writing goes, that was something I fell into. I was battling with feelings that I suppressed for a long time and writing was my way of releasing those feelings.

3.  Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years? In 5-10 years I see myself being a New York Times best sellers list. I also see myself having a few movies under my belt. I see myself getting better at all of my talents and giving them to the world.
4.  What do you like and dislike about today’s fashion/style? I like the fact that fashion is no holds bar these days. I love how it’s the ultimate form of expression. However, I dislike the fact that people abuse this. Every fashion nor style is not fit for everybody. I wish people would dress according to what looks great on them and not abuse fashion the way they do these days.
5.  Describe your ideal closet?  My ideal closet would be a mix of Mariah Carey’s closet and Cher’s closet from the movie Clueless. Wall to wall shoes, a sitting area, racks and racks of organized garments that are computerized to move with my selection of outfit, and a fabulous well lit mirror.

6.A trend that has caught your eye this year?  I am loving the trend of 90’s fashions coming back. Bright colors and bold prints. It gives me an excuse to dress like a Spice Girl and I will be OK.
7. What is style to you? Style to me is the way a person can tell you exactly who they are without speaking. I am a form believer that you should dress in the way you wish to be addressed. Your style and your fashion sense give others a sense of who you are or at least who they think you are.
8. Lastly, what is your influence? What do you think people take from you? I believe I have a positive influence on others. I think people become motivated by my determination. I have my hands in everything and I want to succeed in everything I try. I just want people to be motivated to leap and to take a chance on themselves.
