From med school to fashion, one stylist changed his entire career path while working retail.
Jason Bolden is a celebrity stylist from St. Louis, Missouri. Bolden was born on February 27, 1982. His first client was Gabrielle Union and now he styles celebrities like Taraji P. Henson, Yara Shahidi, Janet Mock, Serena Williams, and many others.
Bolden began in the fashion industry, after, he moved to Chicago with a $500 credit card to survive off of while he attended med school. Bolden blew threw that and started working at Cynthia Rowley. From there he grew his retail experienced and worked at other designer stores like Louis Vuitton, Chloe, Oscar De La Renta, and Gucci. Working at different retail stores allowed him to build a clientele.
He moved to New York and opened The Garment Room, a vintage clothing store located in the fashion district. This is where he met Gabrielle Union and build an amazing friendship with her.
However, his first official styling job was on America’s Got Talent where he gave out style tips for 2011 Art Basel.
A friend moment between Bolden and Union opened up other doors for celebrities like Taraji. This friend moment allowed Bolden to dress union for a Vogue Party, his outfit of choice was a vintage Lanvin and the media loved
According to an interview, Bolden found himself in a creative drag and was there for a minute until Taraji told him to get it together because “She was about to blow the F*uck up and he was going to be busy.”
Bolden says that after that, everything happened so fast and he was booked.
He is married to Interior designer, Adair Curtis, they both operate and own JSN studios. They also have a sitcom on Netflix called Styling Hollywood.
